1:1 triathlon coaching
Training you understand. Decisions you trust. Performance that fits your life.
Qualified, context-led coaching for committed triathletes who want to improve, understand their training and make ambitious performance fit their life. Short-distance expertise, with progression across distances.
The problem
End the guesswork.
The internet can give you a hundred answers before breakfast. What it cannot reliably tell you is which answer is right for you, your goal and today.
Training becomes difficult when the prescribed session no longer fits the day, more volume is treated as the solution to every problem, or hard work stops feeling connected to the outcome you actually want.
Do I force today's session when sleep, work and fatigue say otherwise?
Do I need more volume—or better execution and recovery?
Which piece of advice actually applies to me?
What will move me towards the goal rather than simply fill the week?
You do not need more noise. You need a better decision.

The approach
Coaching is more than prescribed training.
Programming matters. The real coaching value is understanding what the athlete and the goal require, deciding what should happen next, and learning from the response.
Understand the athlete and the goal
Your history, ambitions, feedback, commitments and capacity to recover all affect what useful training looks like.
Make the best contextual decision
A prescribed session is not automatically the right session once the situation changes. Its purpose, your signals and what comes next all matter.
Learn, respond and keep progressing
We use execution, recovery, feedback and performance evidence to learn what works—then make the next decision with more understanding.
The right training, at the right time, for the right reasons.
Who I coach
It is commitment, not current speed, that matters.
You do not need a particular personal best or race history. You do need a meaningful goal, a willingness to communicate and an interest in the process as well as the outcome.
Previous triathlon participation is not a requirement.

The service
One service. A genuine working relationship.
I deliberately limit the number of athletes I coach so I can pay attention to the training, feedback and decisions that shape progress. You receive one complete 1:1 coaching service—not a choice of tiers or a static plan.
The platform
Technology supports the coaching. It does not replace it.
CoachBen is a 1:1 triathlon coaching practice that uses TriDot for prescribed training, data and billing. TriDot organises the work. I remain responsible for listening, interpreting, challenging, explaining and deciding what you need next.
About Ben
Qualified. Experienced. Still learning.
Good coaching depends on more than having raced well. My qualifications, yearly recertification, continued professional development and active coaching network help me make better decisions—and recognise when an athlete needs expertise beyond my own.
My short-distance experience includes two national titles, ten national medals and Great Britain age-group representation in triathlon and aquathlon.
“Can't recommend Ben highly enough... If anyone is looking to be coached by a highly effective, motivated, and process-driven coach... give Ben a message”— Andy M
Coach! What Should I Do?
Four hours' sleep. Hard session today.
The session is still written down, but the athlete who is meant to complete it has changed.
Move the hard session. Four hours' sleep does not automatically mean doing nothing, but it is a poor moment to force important intensity simply because it remains on the calendar.
Protect the purpose, not the calendar.

Between Sessions
A fortnightly triathlon coaching letter from CoachBen.
Every two weeks, I take one useful coaching idea, decision or experience and work through what it could change in your own training.
It is a personal letter for athletes who want clearer thinking between sessions—not another stream of noise, hype or generic motivation.
